How many days should you rent a scooter on the Amalfi Coast? The short answer: 1 day for a taste (Amalfi and Ravello, or Positano), 3 days to really see the coast without rushing, a full week if you’re staying here and want the scooter to be your car. With Rent in Costa a 125cc scooter starts from €50 a day, with full tank, helmets for two, third-party insurance and unlimited mileage included, and you book online in a couple of minutes.

Which scooter to choose
| Vehicle | Price | Best for | Licence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 125cc scooter | from €50/day | the most practical for longer rentals, easy on bends and in parking bays | B or A1 |
| Vespa Primavera 125 | €60/day | the postcard Vespa, perfect for a special day | B or A1 |
| Vespa 300 | €90/day | riding two-up every day, including the climbs to Ravello | A or A2 |
All are automatic. You book the exact model you want to ride; the colour depends on availability. Want to compare the two Vespas in detail? See our Vespa rental on the Amalfi Coast page.
1 day: a taste of the coast
One day is enough for one side of the coast, not all of it. The two classic days out from Agerola:
- East: Amalfi, Atrani and Ravello. Amalfi is about 25 minutes away. Spend the morning between the harbour and the cathedral, then ride up to Ravello for Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. If you’d rather have the scooter delivered there, see our scooter rental in Amalfi page.
- West: Furore, Praiano and Positano. Positano is about 40 minutes away. Stop at the Furore Fjord (the roadside stop there is not official and you risk a fine, so read our parking guide first), then Praiano, then sunset in Positano.
One perk of a 1-day rental: if it rains, you can move it to the next day or another free day. It’s the only case where rain gives you the right to a change.

3 days: the right choice for most trips
With three days you see the coast without early alarms and without rushing. A sample plan:
- Day 1: Amalfi, Atrani and Ravello. The climb to Ravello is one of the most beautiful roads on the coast. More tips in our Ravello scooter guide.
- Day 2: Furore, Praiano and Positano. Parking in Positano is private and paid: plan ahead with our scooter rental in Positano page.
- Day 3: the sea. Pick one or two beaches and take it slow: our guide to the Amalfi Coast beaches by scooter has the best ones.
The real advantage of a multi-day rental is that you don’t have to plan everything in advance: if the road to Positano is busy one morning, just turn around and head to Amalfi instead.

A full week: the scooter becomes your car
If you’re staying in Agerola or in a coast town for a week, a scooter is the easiest way to get around every day: beach in the morning, back for lunch, out again in the evening, with no bus timetables. Delivery in Agerola is free, so it’s waiting for you where you sleep.
Two tips for longer rentals:
- Pick the 125cc scooter if you mostly ride alone or on short trips: it’s the easiest to park. Pick the Vespa 300 if you ride two-up every day and hold an A or A2 licence.
- On request you can add an anti-theft lock (€10 a day) and a power bank (€10 for the whole rental).
And remember: on the Amalfi Coast you ride calmly. The bends of the SS163 are narrow and full of buses, and there’s no rush to get anywhere. Read our Amalfi Coast parking guide before you go.

How it works
- Choose your scooter and dates online and pay securely.
- Choose where you want it: delivery in Agerola is free; for the other towns, including Amalfi port and hotels, the fee is shown when you choose the location while booking.
- At pick-up sign the contract, show your licence and credit card, and ride. No deposit is blocked.
- Return by 8:00 pm on your last day. Rental days are calendar days.
Requirements
- 18 years or older.
- Car licence (B) or A1 for 125cc scooters, A or A2 for the Vespa 300.
- If your licence was issued outside the European Union, you also need an International Driving Permit.
- A physical credit card in the rider’s name.
- Some experience on two wheels: the Amalfi Coast is not the place to learn.
