The road connecting Agerola, Furore, Amalfi, and Positano is world-famous for its beauty, but also for its technical difficulty:
Hairpin Bends & Blind Corners: You will face hundreds of tight curves where large SITA buses and delivery trucks take up the entire road.
The “Bus Challenge”: When you meet a bus on a curve, you must know how to maneuver in inches. Panic braking or losing balance here is extremely dangerous.
Heavy Traffic: During peak season, the road is a chaotic mix of cars, pedestrians, and professional drivers. It requires 100% focus, 100% of the time.
Steep Inclines: Coming down from Agerola to Furore or Amalfi requires expert use of brakes to avoid overheating and losing control.
Ask yourself these questions before booking:
Do I ride a scooter or motorcycle regularly at home?
Am I comfortable with a passenger on the back on steep hills?
Can I stay calm when a bus honks behind me on a narrow ledge?
If the answer is “No” or “I’m not sure,” please do not rent a scooter. A fall or an accident will not only ruin your holiday but could lead to serious injury. The local hospitals are far, and the roads are unforgiving.
