Your safety is worth more than a rental fee.

Driving a scooter on the Amalfi Coast is a dream for many, but the reality of the SS163 (the “Amalfi Drive”) is far from a movie scene. It is a narrow, winding, and unforgiving road.

At Rent in Costa, we want you to have an unforgettable vacation for the right reasons. If you don’t have significant experience riding a scooter, the Amalfi Coast is not the place to learn.

⚠️ The Hard Truth About the Amalfi Drive

The road connecting Agerola, Furore, Amalfi, and Positano is world-famous for its beauty, but also for its technical difficulty:

  • Hairpin Bends & Blind Corners: You will face hundreds of tight curves where large SITA buses and delivery trucks take up the entire road.

  • The “Bus Challenge”: When you meet a bus on a curve, you must know how to maneuver in inches. Panic braking or losing balance here is extremely dangerous.

  • Heavy Traffic: During peak season, the road is a chaotic mix of cars, pedestrians, and professional drivers. It requires 100% focus, 100% of the time.

  • Steep Inclines: Coming down from Agerola to Furore or Amalfi requires expert use of brakes to avoid overheating and losing control.

🛑 Are You Experienced Enough?

Ask yourself these questions before booking:

  1. Do I ride a scooter or motorcycle regularly at home?

  2. Am I comfortable with a passenger on the back on steep hills?

  3. Can I stay calm when a bus honks behind me on a narrow ledge?

If the answer is “No” or “I’m not sure,” please do not rent a scooter. A fall or an accident will not only ruin your holiday but could lead to serious injury. The local hospitals are far, and the roads are unforgiving.

🛡️ Our Commitment to Your Safety

If you decide to rent, we provide:

  • Safety Briefing: A full explanation of local driving “unwritten rules.”

  • Quality Helmets: Not just legal, but safe and comfortable.

  • Honest Advice: If we see you are struggling during the initial test at our base in Agerola, we reserve the right to cancel the rental for your own safety.

Choose Wisely

The Amalfi Coast is best enjoyed when you feel safe. If you have the experience, a scooter is freedom. If you don’t, it’s a risk you shouldn’t take.
